Symptoms of Heart Attacks
- Chest pains, squeezing sensation – The pain can radiate into the arms and jaw.
- Clammy skin and cold sweat
- Nausea and vomiting
- Shortness of breath
- Dizziness and fainting
- Blue around the lips and mouth
How should you react?
- Relax, sit down and see if it passes within a few minutes
- If it doesn’t pass call 9-11
If someone else is displaying symptoms:
- Get the person to relax
- Monitor closely
- Loosen tight clothes
- Ask if they take any heart medicine – and help them take it.
- If it does not pass, call 9-1-1
- If the person loses consciousness, begin CPR

How should you react?
- If you experience symptoms of a stroke you should seek medical assistance immediately!
If someone else is displaying symptoms:
- Ask the person to smile
- Ask the person to lift both arms
- Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence
If they cannot complete the actions call 9-1-1 immediately
