Onway Electric City Bike Review

When buying an electric bike the price is often of importance. Electric bikes are quite expensive and you need to be sure that you are making the right decision. We have compared several electric bikes under $1000, and this bike from Onway is a clear favorite.

There are a couple of things that set the Onway apart from many other electric bikes in this price range. The bike is beautifully designed, we like the clean look of the white bike and having the battery underneath the luggage carrier makes it look almost exactly like an ordinary bike.

The 3-level assisted mode is easy to turn on and of using the throttle, and if you feel like getting a workout you simply turn of the assist.

The SHIMANO 6 speed gear is a good quality gear and it is easy to find the right resistance, making the bike even more comfortable to ride.

The bike is easy to assemble, the seat is adjustable and the bike comes with a 1-year warranty.

A few tips for using the bike

  1. Remember that the assisted mode is just that, you have to also pedal the bike to keep it moving.
  2. If you are having trouble

Choosing your new electric bike there are 3 things you should be aware of:

  • Battery
  • Weight
  • Design

1. Battery:

First and most important is the battery. The battery is the most expensive component to the electric bike, so you are looking for a battery that will last you a long time.

Onway offers 12 months warranty on their batteries, which is a good security to have.

The battery is 36V 9Ah lithium battery with a charge time of 4-6 hours, which is pretty standard for an electric bike in this price range.

Relying solely on electric assist the range of the Onway is about 40 miles.

2. Design:

The design of the bike is very important depending on how you are planning on using your bike. If you want to use it to commute, it must be comfortable to ride, if you want to use it for shopping you should be able to fit a basket for your groceries.

The bike should also be easy to mount, this is especially important for senior men as it with age can become difficult to keep the balance when having to lift a leg high. Before buying a new bike you should consider what feels comfortable for you when mounting a bike and keep that in mind when making your choice.

3. Weight:

As a senior, the weight of the bike is another important factor to consider. The Onway has a weight of 68 pounds, which is fairly much. The weight of the bike is important if you have to move the bike around and when getting ready to ride it. Your surroundings are therefor a factor to consider when choosing your e-bike.

Even though the Onway is a bit on the heavy site it is well balanced and you don’t feel the weight when riding.

The bike should also be easy to mount, this is especially important for senior men as it with age can become difficult to keep the balance when having to lift a leg high. Before buying a new bike you should consider what feels comfortable for you when mounting a bike and keep that in mind when making your choice.
